Mount Tondrak is located in Western Armenia. It crosses the rivers Aratsani, Euphrates and Araks and forms the border of the provinces of Tsakhkotn and Kogovit. The height of the tondrak is 3584 meters. It is an active volcano, the apical part is conical and concave, with a crater lying inside like a trap.

The diameter of the crater is 2000, the depth is 320 m, from which sulfur gases and vapors with high temperature erupt with great force. It consists of basalt, andesite and trachyandesite lava. The slopes are steep in places, flat in places, a significant part of which is covered with weathered volcanic rocks. It has volcanic building materials and jermuk. Winter is harsh, with a heavy snow cover, the annual precipitation is 500-700 mm. Mountain-steppe and mountain-meadow vegetation prevails.
