Tghit Castle is located in the Kotayk region of Armenia, it was probably built in the early Iron Age, BC. At the end of the II millennium, it was rebuilt and continued to serve as an impregnable fortress-settlement also in the Middle Ages. It is located at the strategic height of the Tegheniats mountain range of the Tsaghkunyats mountain range, and due to its impregnable position and great field of visibility, it became one of the important links of the defense system bordering the Ararat valley from the north, controlling the international trade routes leading through the Hrazdan river basin to the Sevan lake basin and further north.
Tghit Castle
