Srveghi Monastery is located about 3 km southwest of Aygehovit village, on a hillside, in a place called "Under the Cross". It is one of the spiritual and cultural centers of the Kayan province of medieval Armenia (in the early Middle Ages, Ghorpoor province of the Gugarats world). The monument consists of two churches, residential and economic buildings of the Congregation. It is surrounded by a fence. Only the foundations of the wall remain. Outside the fence, near the monastery, there are the remains of other buildings, tombstones, khachkars. Water pipes have been preserved. The water of the monastery was brought from several kilometers away from the nearby mountains.
Srveghi Monastery
The main church (St. Nshan) is a domed hall with an oriental tabernacle, a double-storey pair of apses, and a slender, pointed ridge, crowned with a polygonal dome. It is built of baked brick. The lower rows of walls are lined with about 1 meter high stones of dark pink andesite. This is one of the few brick monuments built in Armenia. In the half-true inscription placed on the facade of the lithograph of the church stage, St. Sign name: The date of construction is not known, it is supposed to be XII-XIII centuries. The walls are decorated with sculptures and fragments of khachkars of different eras. They all belong to a different, older structure. There is a medieval cemetery around the church.
The church has been renovated many times. The two corners of the eastern façade, the central part of the stage, the frame of the western door, the corner sections have been completely renovated, and the dome has been partially renovated.
S. Astvatsatsin Church - located on the north side of the main church. It is ruined. It is a single-nave hall. It was built in 1889. by the village community, led by Father Hovhannes. Fragments of carved khachkars and complete khachkars are placed in the walls. There are large tombstones on the floor.
Dzithank is a monastery building, located outside the monastery wall, on the west side. Only the ruins remain.
