Mount Olympus is the highest mountain in Greece with a height of 2,918 meters. It is located in the northern part of Greece, on the border of Thessaly and Macedonia. Olympus is famous in ancient Greek mythology. It was considered the home of the gods. According to myths, Zeus and the other Olympian gods resided on top of this mountain. The ancient Greeks believed that the peaks of Mount Olympus were shrouded in mist so that people could not see the secret abode of the gods.
Mount Olympus has several peaks: Mytikas (2918 m), the highest peak, Skolio (2905 m), and Stefani (2902 m), also called the "Throne of Zeus".
