Martuni

Martuni Province is one of the 8th Provinces of the Artsakh Republic. It was founded in 1991 on the basis of the NKAO region (founded in 1930). The area of the district is 951 km², the population is 23,157 people (2005). Center – the city of Martuni. Varan is bordered by the north of Khachen, from the east to Shushi and from the south to Dizak.

In the south-eastern part of Artsakh, at an altitude of 400 meters. It has 36 communities and 40 settlements. Large settlements are the city of Martuni, the cities of Chartar, Berdashen, Gishi, Tagavard and Mos. The arctic half of the region has an inclined, weak inclined surface. The peaks of the peaks that stretch along the villages of Nneng, Kaghartsin, Ashan, Chartar, Kherkhan and Tagavard are relatively high (1200 - 1500 m). The landscape is mountainous, steppe and forest.
