Makenyats Monastery or Makenots Monastery is a medieval Armenian Apostolic monastery complex on the outskirts of the village of Makenis, Gegharkunik province of Armenia. Mentioned since the early Middle Ages, it was one of the outstanding religious and educational centers of Armenia. According to the Archangel. Vardapet Soghomon Orbelian, the leader of the Makenyats monastery, the "father of fathers", in 701 compiled coverage of the Terunak holidays and a memorial book of martyrs ("The Life of Srbots" and Aismavyurk). In the 8th-9th centuries, Stepanos Syunetsi (Stepanos Kertog), Vahan Gokhtnatsi, Catholicos Soghomon I Garnetsi, Mashtots I Yeghivardetsi studied at the Makenyats Monastery school.
