Karktasar mount is located in the Gegharkunik region of Armenia, it is the highest peak of the Areguni mountain range, 4 km north of Drakhtik village. The height of the mountain is 2740 meters. The Artsataghberk river originates from the southeastern slopes of the Karktasar peak, and the Erkainadzor river originates from the southern slopes.
