Heghnar Aghbyur the novel was written in 1935 by the famous Armenian poet, novelist and translator Mkrtich Armen (Mkrtich Grigory Harutyunyan 1906-1972). In 1970, the feature film of the same name was shot at Hayfilm film studio. The events develop in the 19th century, in the Armenian traditional city.
