Day 1

Yerevan - Ani - Bayazet

Starting early morning (04:00 am), the group will be heading to Armenian-Georgian border checkpoint Bavra from Yerevan, then we will cross the Georgian - Turkish border via Akhalkhalaki checkpoint. The first stop on our way will be near the shore of lake Tsovakn Hyusiso (Childir), the next one will be near Ani, the city of thousand and one churches. The group will reach to Bayazet city in the evening, have dinner and take an overnight stay in the hotel.

Day 2

The first camp of Mount Ararat

The group will approach up to 2200 meters by off-road cars leaving for Bayazet, where the hiking will start from. Hiker’s heavy items and clothes will be transported by horses. The group will get to the first camp (3200 m) after 5-6 hours of hiking, where we will have a rest, get adapted, have dinner and overnight in tents.

Day 3

The second camp of Mount Ararat

In the morning the group will have a breakfast and will rise to the second camp (4150 m), which will last over 4.5-5 hours. Overnight stop will be in tents.

Day 4

Climbing to the top of Mount Ararat

Wake up at 12:00 am, breakfast. At 01:00 am the climbing to the summit of Mount Ararat will start. The duration will be 6 hours, the temperature will be around from 0 to -20 C. Depending on weather conditions, the participants will have a chance to see the territories of Armenia including Mount Aragats and Geghama Mountain Range, territories of Iran, Turkey. After celebration of climbing, participants will begin their way down to the second camp having time to relax for about 1-2 hours, after which the group will continue to move down to the first camp. Dinner and overnight in tents.

Day 5

The first camp of Mount Ararat - Bayazet

After having a breakfast, the group will move down to the foot of Mount Ararat (2200 m) and be transported to Bayazet. Dinner and overnight will be at the hotel.

Day 6

Bayazet - Van

After the breakfast our group will head to Van, visiting waterfalls of Berkri on the way, and the Cathedral of the Holy Cross on Akhtamar Island, one of the masterpieces of Armenian medieval architecture. After swimming and testing Vana Tarekh (Van fish) the group will go to the fortress of Tushpa (Van-castle 9th century BC). Then participants will return to Bayazet and take an overnight at the hotel.

Day 7

Bayazet - Kars - Yerevan

After the breakfast, the group will visit to Daroynq castleArtsap Armenian village, the castle of  KarsArakelots monastery and the ruins of Yeghishe Charent’s home (Armenian famous poet) on the way back.

Depending on weather conditions, additional one-day overnight may be possible on the mountain, without extra charge. Preparatory and adaptive multi-climbing will be organized to the Mountains of AraAzhdahak and Aragats, which price is not included in the project.

Participants must have sleeping bag, backpack (big and small), mountain climbing boots, warm mountain uniform, jacket, hats (both summer and winter), comfortable hiking gloves, jersey, sunscreen cream, headlamp, hiking poles, thermal underwear, mask, trekking sunglasses, gaiters.

Climbing Mount Ararat 2017 - Many didn’t believe that it was possible to climb Mount Ararat in 2017, but we did it. We celebrated the Armenian Independence Day on the summit of our dreams.

  • Is it difficult to climb Ararat?

    Ararat is not considered a technically insurmountable or difficult mountain. For an easy ascent, you need to train properly, follow the guides' advice, eat right, regulate your sleep regime, and do not use harmful substances, such as alcohol or tobacco.

  • How many days does the climb to Ararat last ?

    First of all, we note that the full tour is 7 days, 4 of which are dedicated to climbing Ararat, and the remaining days are a sightseeing tour of Western Armenia.

  • How to get to Mount Ararat

    The group leaves Yerevan early in the morning and crosses the Armenian-Georgian border through the Bavra checkpoint, and then the Georgian-Turkish border through the Kartsakhi checkpoint. Our first stop is the city of a thousand and one historical churches in Ani, after which we get to Bayazet by car. Overnight in one of the comfortable hotels in Bayazet, and the next morning cars take us to the foot of Mount Ararat, at 2200 meters, and our ascent begins.

  • Is a preliminary medical examination required ?

    One of the important circumstances, of course, is the state of health of the participant. Do not look at this question through your fingers, do not forget that you are following a dream. First of all, check the heart and lungs. A very important circumstance is to inform the organizers or one of the guides in advance about your health problem, if there is one, do not forget that you will be at an altitude of 5165 meters.
