Bgavor Monastery is located in the Lori Region of Armenia, 3 km northwest of the Akori village, on the high plateau on the left bank of the Debed River, on the steep slope of the Lalvar Mountain. It is surrounded by rocks and ravines. Historical sources do not contain any information about the construction of the church. The monument has no epitaph inscriptions. The architectural design of the Bgavor church resembles the 13th century Akhtala and Kobair monuments in this region, which makes it possible to assume that Bgavor belongs to that era. Some elements of the church's artistic decoration are similar to the Georgian churches of the same period, which is due to close Armenian-Georgian economic and cultural ties during the Zakarian period (XII-XIV centuries).
