Aqloraqar Mountain is on the border of Kotayk and Aragatsotn regions of Armenia. The mountain is relatively isolated from other mountain ranges and is interesting from biologic point of view. It contains a rich natural genetic pool. There are 650 species of vascular plants on the mountain, which constitute 20% of Armenia’s vegetation. In this small area can be seen the main types of vegetation of Armenia: semi-desert, steppe, meadow steppe, forest and meadow, high meadows, rock and grass vegetation, steppe bushes.

Ara and Aqloraqar Mountains are one Mountain massif
The name of Mount Ara comes from the Armenian mythological god, on behalf of Ara Gegetsik, because, looking at the summits of the mountain from afar (for example, Ashtarak Highway), they look like the lying man Ara. The top of the nose of Ara is called Aqloraqar 2511 m. Tsakhevank is located on the mountainside.

Mountain is located 33 km north of Yerevan, on the right side of Yerevan-Gyumri highway. The nearest settlements are Nor Yerznka, Zoravan, Saralanj, Yernjatap, Hartavan, Artashavan, Saghmosavank, Hovhanavank, Karbi and Mughni villages and the city of Yeghvard. The “Demirchyan Apple” gardens are at the foot of the western slopes of the mountain. From the West it borders the Kasakh River Gorge.
